Donkeywell Forge, Quenington, Cirencester, Gloucestershire, GL7 5DH

Donkeywell Forge is a traditional blacksmiths forge on the outskirts of Cirencester, Gloucestershire. We produce traditional and contemporary ironwork working with all forms of metal including true wrought iron, mild steel, bronze, copper, stainless steel and corten. We have traditional coke fired forges along with large gas powered forges and power hammer facilities which allows us to specialise in the use and principles of heritage materials and styles including fire welding. This all sits alongside modern workshop facilities and machinery. We hope the pictures of the work on our website say more about us than pages of text as we would rather be making than writing about it! If you would like to talk to us regarding any future projects please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Chance Hall Ln, Congleton CW12 4TL, UK

As an artist blacksmith William Smith has had a fascination with metal from a young age, when cold its hard and unbending, but when heated and crafted it has a fluid malleable quality, and in the right hands it allows its self to form into many beautiful objects.

William (or Bill to most) has always had a love of natural forms and shapes and often takes his inspiration from nature, creating plant forms of all kinds and the use of traditional blacksmithing techniques to create contemporary form.

Located where BABA was founded in 1978, Fire and Iron is a major gallery and workshop specialising in forged ironwork and associated metal crafts. Representing more than 100 leading British and international blacksmiths, jewellers and other artists using metal as their chosen medium, Fire and Iron was founded in the early 1980s in response to the global resurgence of interest in forged iron as a creative medium. Owned and run by Lucy Quinnell, who grew up in a blacksmithing family and is the current editor of Artist Blacksmith magazine, Fire and Iron encourages high standards in art metalworking and attracts buyers and commissioners from all over the world. Lucy is married to blacksmith Adam Boydell, and together they design and create public artworks and private commissions. The couple also works in collaboration with other blacksmiths on some Fire and Iron commissions. Lucy won a gold medal for her first RHS garden at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show in 2008, and since then she has worked on five more RHS gardens.
