**The Quinnell School of Blacksmithing runs inspirational weekend courses for women and men from the age of 14 upwards; suitable for absolute beginners, but also for metal fabricators, sculptors, and craftspeople in other media seeking an understanding of iron forging.

Also very useful for young people to assess their aptitude for metalworking, before committing to school classes; or applying for apprenticeships or for college courses (which are available up to BA Hons degree level) – we can give advice on these.

Courses are run by our expert tutors Peat Oberon and Ambrose Burne, assisted by Eamonn Kenward. After 21 years and over 1200 students, spectacular achievement is the norm, and we can virtually guarantee elemental insights and great enjoyment.

A course makes a wonderful, original, and much-appreciated present for a birthday, Christmas, anniversary (6th, Iron; and 11th, Steel, are particularly appropriate!), retirement, or another special occasion.
.
Rowhurst Forge, the school’s workshop, is the place where BABA was born in 1978; and the spectacular Fire and Iron Gallery (see separate entry in this directory) is on the same site.
See our website for details, and our facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/QSBlacksmithing for the up-to-date course calendar and more pictures of students and their creations.
